Well ... this happened!
Not only was my 16x20" oil painting "Bee Eater" juried into the Sugar Rush Juried Art Show, it was awarded 2nd place!
I almost missed it altogether - good thing I was checking my email's spam folder for something else this morning 😆 ... it made my day.
This bright little 🦜 guy was worth the 'pushing through' I had to do to finish well (some of those feathers challenged me for some reason).
And worth the pushing through intimidation coming at me to enter a juried show this summer in the midst of so many other things going on.
And worth the pushing through to get it framed and delivered in the midst of the crazies ... like a house move, studio move, work schedule, and Covid recovery - good night!
I'm so glad I didn't give up. This is the first art award I've won in many moons - and a wonderful reminder to keep stepping in, keep painting, keep believing in the good that happens when you, well, show up. 🙂
A special thank you to juror Adam Crawford (The Art of Adam Crawford), gallery owner of Cat Eye Creations (Cat Eye Creative) in Atlanta, for the selection and award - I'm so honored! And be sure to follow both his gallery and personal page.
I'll be at the opening reception tomorrow (Saturday) for a few hours (11am-1pm), if you want to join me and see all the fab art. The deets:
